Ellie's Birthday

I know, it's been a month, I'm so behind... But Ellie turned 6! She such a big girl now, I cannot believe it! No more sundresses and bows. She told me she's not a girl, she's a "tomboy"- so it's blue jeans and tees now. However, you see below that the makeup vanity she got from a friend on her birthday did not go unused. So I'm pretty sure her insistence that she doesn't like girl stuff is going to be a short-lived phase.

For her birthday she really wanted to have a party here at our house. Since our place is tiny, we booked the club lounge on our amenities floor. She invited about 12 friends who all came over after school the afternoon of her birthday and joined us for card-making, balloons, a movie in the cinema room and Ellie's dessert choice of pumpkin pie. Now let me explain something about pumpkin here in Australia. Pumpkin is not used as a sweet dish- no pumpkin pie, muffins, bread, ice cream, etc. They think it is so weird! So I made sure to have brownies available as well for those who didn't like the pie. But hey, what's the fun in being a foreigner if you can't introduce strange new things to people here :)

The kids loved the theater room we have access to- it's like a real cinema. They watched "Honey I Shrunk the Kids" and loved it!

For her birthday we got Ellie a remote control car, so we went out and tried it out over the weekend.

After doing all the research deciding which car to get Ellie, Chris found his dream RC car and just had to get it as well. They've had a great time taking their cars out to the park and driving them around. Hopefully now that it's spring we can get some sunny weekends to go out and race around.
